I hope you all tuned in this past Sunday for the new episode of the new HBO show Insecure by Issa Rae. This show is a breath of fresh air in the world of over populated TV where you don’t see much diversity; or, if you do, it’s not for very long. Insecure is the realist depiction of what it is like as a young black woman trying to find her way through this journey called life. The show stars Issa Rae, Yvonne Orji, Jay Ellis, and Lisa Joyce. The show displays all the little quirks and awkward moments that a black woman may experience (I know I have) in the most funny and realistic way. The show is somehow able to capture the essence of reality of the daily awkward moments one can have whether it’s practicing a pick up line in the bathroom mirror or hilariously unintentionally ignoring your best friend and trying to convince her you heard everything she said. It’s nicely soundtracked with good music and it happens to be done by the one and only Raphael Saadiq, and Solange acted as music consultant. Make sure you tune in on Sunday nights at 10:30pm ET/9:30pm CT on HBO; if you don’t check it out, you’re definitely playing yourself.
