On Sept. 11 a mysterious EP, H.E.R., Vol. 1, was dropped by H.E.R. and it has everyone going crazy trying to figure out who the mysterious H.E.R. could be. We like that fact that whoever H.E.R. is, is letting the music do the talking instead of letting a visual speak before the art of the music does. It’s reminiscent of the way Sia reintroduced herself to the industry. The EP, H.E.R, Vol. 1, has been getting a lot of viral buzz and given props by several artists such as, Usher, Alicia Keys, Tyrese, Latoya Luckett, Tiara Thomas, Justine Skye, and Wyclef Jean.

The EP features 7 songs with relatable, truthful and honest lyrics; it’s very dope. The singer has a nice raspy quality and warm tone to her voice. She almost has an Aaliyah type of vibe to her sound; soft and mellow, yet the message is strong so you can’t ignore it. The EP has a real chill vibe to it and flows nicely throughout. I’m not sure if H.E.R. plans to keep her identity a mystery, but it would be dope to continue to let the music and work do the talking. U, Focus, and Facts are my picks for top tracks. We can’t wait to hear more from H.E.R.
